Brian Byars Head of Sales Starting at Spotless Interview
Welcome to our very first Starting at Spotless interview! We have had the pleasure of interviewing our newly appointed Head of Sales, Brian Byars. Brian comes to Spotless with an incredible amount of insight and experience, and he will be using his talents to help Spotless achieve further success and growth. So, we sat him down and asked a few questions after his first couple of weeks with us…
Q: Can you give us an overview of your career so far?
A: Sure. I’ve spent most of my working life in facilities management. It all began when I started washing bins at the age of twelve, thanks to my mum who was a cleaning manager at the local gas board, I earned as I learned all through school. In the past 20 years, I’ve held roles in various FM sectors like fire and security, contract cleaning, contract catering, manned guarding, and building engineering. I’ve also taken on different responsibilities in sales and operations. I’m accredited as a member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (MIWFM) and now working for Spotless, I’m back to my roots, in the industry that kickstarted it all – contract cleaning.
Q: What made you decide to join Spotless?
A: Well, I’ve always followed the advice of not burning bridges. Over the years, there were talks about me joining Spotless, but the timing wasn’t right. Finally, everything fell into place. I trust the senior team and I’m excited to contribute to the company’s success.
Q: How do you find working at Spotless so far?
A: My first impressions of Spotless are positive. The people here genuinely live the company’s values. There’s a great balance of taking care of customers, our staff, and having a fun atmosphere. This isn’t by chance – it comes from clear professional standards, set by the leadership.
Q: What’s your vision for Spotless with your involvement?
A: Spotless already has a great team and potential for the future. My plan is to leverage the relationships I’ve built throughout my career in facilities management. I want to help Spotless do what it does best but with a focus on reaching more customers and achieving growth naturally.
