Why Use Spotless

What makes Spotless different ?

  • Most of our managers are shareholders and have a vested interest in our performance.
  • We have a very strong and genuine environmental and health and safety awareness.
  • Each cleaner is thoroughly trained with bespoke DVD presentation and fully inducted to Spotless procedures and to each site where they work.

We are the first to say that if you have a good cleaning arrangement, and the company is responsible, compliant and offer good value, then stay with them. Any company that contributes to giving contract cleaners a good name deserve all the work they can get, and we see them as friends of the industry.

Below we have outlined the 3 main types of company you generally find in the industry. Firstly, there are the small, local companies who can provide a good service (at least to begin with) to small, local contracts at a reasonable price, but may possibly lack the required wherewithal in complying with the ever changing climate of Health and Safety and Employment Law. Up to a point these companies are successful, based on a husband and wife team, or small family team, with up to 20 employees. If you have this arrangement, and it works for you, and you are confident that they are compliant in all required areas, then we would not advise you to change. Look out, though, for signs that they have hit their capability ceiling and overshot their ability to service. Maybe their organizational structure has caught up with itself, or they have become financially out of their depth. Sometimes a key person is unwell or leaves, and the business fails without them.

Secondly, at the other end of the scale are the big national companies with thousands of staff. At their best, in very large buildings, these companies can be excellent, with robust procedures and reporting systems. For the mid market contracts however, of the value £60-£500 per week, they tend in our experience to be less focused and less motivated. While some are better than others, their customer service at this level tends to be informal and slow.

In the middle of these 2 extremes are the mid-market cleaning contractors. Again, there are some excellent companies here and some horrors! The things to look out for in a good company are as follows;

  • A clear message of a commitment to quality with plenty of references thrown in for good measure.
  • A clear understanding of your needs, displayed clearly in the quotation document.
  • A clear policy on ‘best-practice’ recruitment methods, plus a commitment to site inductions, ID checking, vetting, and continual training and assessment.
  • A company that can demonstrate through their references that they respond quickly to your needs.
  • A company that can demonstrate that their managers are motivated to succeed.
  • A company that can display a genuine commitment to environmental needs.
  • A company that has systems in place which will grow with the company so it doesn’t need to re-invent its systems with growing pains, which effect you directly.
  • A company that understands and cares genuinely for the Health and Safety of its operatives, its clients and the public and demonstrates this with good practice with Risk Assessments, COSHH sheets, training methods etc.
  • A company that respects the money you are willing to pay, and will tailor the specification to your needs.

For Spotless these things are not our aim. They are our starting point.
