Environmental Awareness

The general areas of environmental awareness which effects the cleaning industry are;

Car Fuel Costs – With a fleet of 30 cars we have to carefully manage our carbon footprint with fuel output, so we are careful to provide cars with low carbon emissions and to ensure where possible that managers look after a group of clients in a local post coded area to avoid unnecessary mileage.

Electricity Costs – We can advise on reducing your own electricity costs. The easiest way to achieve this is to install in the cleaning staff a sense of duty over using minimal electricity, and also, where it suits the client, to undertake the cleaning function during office hours when there is more natural light.

Some clients are now using small disposable cups to offset the use of a dishwasher.

In your washrooms, we can advise use of warm air dryers. These are environmentally far friendlier than paper towels, even when recycled, or fabric towels which require continuous laundering.

Packaging – although we have not made this company policy as yet, we are trialing a system which allows us to re-use cleaning containers and to buy undiluted cleaning chemicals which we can dilute at central filling station based in our office. We hope in due course to make this company practice.

Choice of Suppliers – Like you, we are careful to take on suppliers who can display a genuine approach to environmental and sustainable issues.

Recycling – This is the area in which we can make greatest difference. Not so much by ensuring we recycle in our own offices (we do recycle our own paper, tin, plastics, cartridges, cardboard), but by advising clients on ways to reduce their own landfill (and significant cost) by adopting a user friendly recycling policy in your own place of work.

Please see the Guide below on how this might help you.
