BRIGHTWASTE MERGES WITH ACE RECYCLING

Roger Green who heads up both Spotless and its office recycling spin off business, Brightwaste, has purchased the commercial and industrial division of ACE Recycling Group CIC in a deal that has secured the future of the Alloa-based company.

Malcolm McArdle, ACE’s Managing Director, will continue to head up ACE’s operations. Merging with Spotless and Brightwaste, will give ACE the necessary investment to continue to grow its business. All 13 of ACE’s staff have been retained and they will continue to operate from their depot at The Whins in Alloa.

ACE currently services over 400 customers in the hospitality, business and retail sectors across Scotland’s central belt. In addition to recycling plastic, paper, cardboard and cans the company is one of the largest independent glass recycling collectors in Scotland. ACE also arranges uplift for large and bulky items and provides a range of in-office services. It has also retained its contract with Novelis and will maintain its status as the main aluminium can aggregation centre in Scotland.

The acquisition of ACE is a very exciting development for Brightwaste as it expands the company’s offering to the market. The business has trebled in size and now has access to a much larger fleet and a depot where mixed recycling picked up from customers can be collected and sorted.

Roger Green, CEO of Spotless and Brightwaste explains: “ACE is a widely respected name in the waste management industry and we are looking forward to working with their team. We believe this will be of great financial benefit to our business and we aim to double the size of the Ace/Brightwaste business in the next three years. All 19 staff are being retained (13 from Ace and 6 from Brightwaste).

“It is an exciting time for the waste industry as an increasing focus is being placed on the need to recycle more effectively. The announcement on 5th September by Nicola Sturgeon of a new deposit return scheme for used drinks cans and bottles is a welcome one. ACE has been a supporter of the introduction of a system like this in Scotland for some time and can provide the logistics infrastructure for our combined client base to manage the process.“

There are many clear synergies between ACE and Brightwaste, they both share the same dedication to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill; provide a reliable service to customers to help them manage the cost of recycling as efficiently as possible and provide a reliable and professional recycling service.
